Reporting to the Supervisor of the Environmental Health IPAC team, you will be responsible for a specialized Environmental Health infection control program in the community. Your professional and technical skills will be used to investigate health hazards, conduct risk assessments and enforce compliance under various Acts, Regulations, Guidelines, Best Practices and municipal by-laws for food safety (institutional and child care settings), communicable disease investigation and control, community outbreak investigation, as well as infection control and health hazard investigation in child care centres, personal services settings and funeral homes. In addition, you will perform technical assessments of applicable building plans, investigate complaints, inspect premises, provide consultative and educational services to clients, conduct presentations, fully participate in a project working group and follow all roles and responsibilities of the position. You will also perform a defined role in public health emergencies; lay charges, issue orders and exclusion letters, prepare MFIPPA requests, prepare crown briefs and testify in court. The person in this position must keep themselves apprised of current issues in infection control as well as current infection control resources and practices.
