The South East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) is one of 14 local entities designed to plan, integrate and fund local health services, including hospitals, community care access centres, community health centres, long-term care homes, mental health and addiction programs and a variety of community support services agencies within specific geographic areas.
The South East LHIN is home to close to 500,000 people. It has a sizeable rural population with 44% of its residents living in communities of fewer than 10,000 people. One-quarter of the South East population resides in Kingston.
In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for the development and on-going management of the South East LHINs population and health database. This includes the design, storage, maintenance, manipulation, and reporting of data and information to support the South East LHIN’s planning and performance measurement activities. You will also work collaboratively to provide leadership and management of regional database projects within the south east health care system.
Reporting to the Director, Knowledge Management, you will: consult system users to define database system requirements; design and develop data models and database architecture; develop tools to collect, standardize and report information; document database procedures and code management including writing manuals; and implement formal and informal knowledge transfer methods to appropriate teams.
You will also: analyze health service data to evaluate health system performance; conduct analysis and assessments of local health care systems, including current and future needs of local populations to address IHSP priorities; provide a data/information perspective on the analysis of population demand and the development of health-care system funding plans; and participate in provincial and inter-LHIN planning activities.
Qualifications – The successful candidate will have: an undergraduate degree in Information Management, Information Technology, Health Informatics, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field supported by experience in BI development and health information management; demonstrated proficiency in database design and implementation; demonstrated proficiency in statistical analysis software, geographic information systems, and analysis of population and health-related data sets; expertise with data access and reporting products (i.e. MicroStrategy, MS SQL, MS Access, MS Reporting Services, Performance Point); ability to apply appropriate statistical methodologies; strong understanding of Ontario’s healthcare system supported by significant experience in a health-related environment; superior relationship management and communication skills; and strong project leadership skills.
