Public Health Nurse--Child Health Team, Region of Peel

The Child Health Program’s Child Health Team requires a self-directed and enthusiastic individual to work within a collaborative team environment. Key responsibilities include: telephone assessment, counselling, education, support and referral to community resources to clients directed to the Family Health Contact Centre. The Child Health Team’s focus area is on families with children aged 0 – 6 years; providing service to clients as a member of a focused team; delivering client education and other health promotion information to diverse groups; consulting and maintaining linkages with other health professionals and agencies.

Success requires: • A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent as recognized by a Canadian University and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the College of Nurses of Ontario • knowledge, skill and experience in the area of telepractice • experience in delivering service in a Public Health setting to families with children 0-6 years old • knowledge, skill and experience in the area of child and reproductive health • knowledge, skill and experience in evidence informed decision making, health promotion strategies, community development and project management • strong computer skills to use specific data bases, maintaining appropriate documentation on the computerized data base and ensuring correct data collection • researching and maintaining references and resources available for the public and Family Health Division • strong organizational, assessment, planning, implementation, facilitation, problem solving, presentation and evaluation skills • understanding of Peel’s diverse community including clients and community agencies.

Compensation: $34.80 - $41.72/ hour plus 6% vacation pay
Location: 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga
Hours of work: 35 hours /week Monday-Friday: Flexible hours of work, including evenings and travel to various Regional locations will be required
