Analyst - Research and Policy, Health Services – Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention, Region of Peel

Contract duration:  approximately two (2) years

Reporting to the Supervisor of the Research, Policy and Planning team in the division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention, you will provide strategic assistance, research and day-to-day policy support to the division, specifically in regards to the Supportive Environments and Healthy Weights strategic priority. You will proactively identify practice issues and provide research, critical analysis, briefings and recommendations to guide urban planning and development practices in Peel toward healthier, more activity-friendly patterns. You will comment on development proposals and studies, integrating health-based rationale to inform planning decisions and improve the health-promoting potential of neighborhoods. You will utilize evidence informed decision making methodology and the public health core competencies framework in your work. As well, you will be responsible for various aspects of policy and procedure development, assess current Planning and Public Health policies, suggest opportunities for improvement, and monitor/evaluate municipal, provincial and federal policy decisions as they relate to the strategic priority.
