Bilingual Public Health Nurse, Middlesex-London Health Unit

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part-time Public Health Nurse on the Child Health Team, within Family Health Services, with French Language oral and written skills at the intermediate level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with communities, groups, families and individuals to enable them to enhance their health and prevent disease. A major emphasis involves partnering with school communities and boards of education to offer comprehensive health promotion programs and services to elementary school aged children. Comprehensive School Health (CSH) or Healthy Schools is a multifaceted approach that emphasises the creation of dynamic, collaborative partnerships among school aged children, parents, teachers, principals, school councils and community agencies concerned with the health and learning of children. Partnerships and healthy policies are integral within this health promotion approach.

Requirements for this position include current CNO registration as a Registered Nurse and a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited nursing program. Candidates will have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, as well as good computer skills. Preference will be given to those with experience working with population based health promotion programming and engaging school aged children. Sound knowledge about multi-cultural populations and skills in collaborating with community partners and schools would be considered an asset. A major component of this position is to provide services in French; therefore, fluency in French is necessary to provide these services.
