Health Services- Communicable Diseases
The Communicable Diseases Investigations Team requires a self-directed individual to work within a collaborative team environment to deliver services in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards for Communicable Disease Control. Key responsibilities include investigating reports of communicable diseases and case management; disseminating knowledge of infection control practices and outbreak control measures; developing and maintaining linkages with other health professionals and agencies (e.g. physicians, local hospitals, schools, long term care homes and community health agencies) and assisting the supervisor in program development.
Examples of job activities may include completing case management and contact follow up on reports of communicable diseases; providing direction on outbreak control measures and follow-up; providing presentations to health care facilities and developing support materials for educational purposes.
Success requires: • a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent accreditation recognized by the Employer and a current certificate of competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario; experience in case management; knowledge of infection control practices and communicable diseases; knowledge of outbreak control measures; effective communication skills, both oral and written; strong computer skills in MS Outlook and Word, Power Point and Excel; knowledge and experience with group facilitation and presentations; knowledge of Peel’s diverse community.
Compensation: $34.80-$41.72/hour plus 6% vacation pay
Location: 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga
Hours of work: 35 hours/week Monday-Friday, flexible hours of work and on call duties may be required.
