ANALYST – RESEARCH AND POLICY (12-387)
Contract duration: approximately 18 months
Health Services – Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention
Reporting to the Manager in the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP) Division, you will consult and provide strategic assistance, research, and policy support to the division, specifically in regards to the Substance Misuse/Injury Prevention Team. You will utilize evidence informed decision making methodology and the public health core competencies framework in your work. You will be responsible for assessing new and existing public health interventions using techniques such as critical appraisal, cost benefit/effectiveness analysis, program evaluation and analysis. You will proactively identify policy and program issues/gaps/trends and provide research, data analysis, critical analysis and make recommendations related to evidence-informed practice to guide the team’s work in particular around policy and advocacy. You will prepare briefings, options papers, and scoping reviews and conduct rapid reviews to support decision making in policy and program development. As well, you will be responsible for various aspects of policy and program development, assess current policies, suggest opportunities/recommendations, and monitor/evaluate municipal, provincial and federal policy decisions as they relate to the work of the team. You may work with policymakers and other stakeholders/community groups as needed to support the team and divisional work.
