South West Regional Cancer Program

Victoria Hospital

The role of the Project Leader will be to lead and manage a complex and multi-organizational project entitled “Mobilizing Newcomers and Immigrants to Cancer Screening Programs” from design and implementation through to evaluation and close-out. The successful candidate will establish and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels in order to establish the conditions for effective engagement and interactions; collaborate with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure project outcomes are successfully achieved; and communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders locally and regionally regarding project management and related activities.

Rate of Pay:                         $37.482/hour to $46.851/hour

Hours of Work:                   37.5 hours per week

Duration of Contract:        August 2012 until no later than March 2014                 


·           Successful completion of a Four Year (Honours) degree, in Health, Business Administration, or health related discipline; Master’s degree preferred

·           Certification in Project Management, applicable to a health related discipline preferred

·           Minimum 5 years recent, related experience

·           Experience working with culturally diverse individuals from various ethnic backgrounds

·           Commitment to and an appreciation of diversity in the workplace and society

·           Knowledge, understanding and/or appreciation of the immigrant/newcomer experience and resilience

·           Demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and graphics

·           Demonstrated excellent communication skills (including both verbal and written); Ability to speak in another language other than English would be an asset

·           Advanced planning and evaluation skills

·           Advanced project management and change management skills

·           Advanced facilitation skills (including consensus building and problem solving)

·           Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as external stakeholders, including those stakeholders working with immigrant and newcomer populations

·           Strong knowledge of local and regional health care system

·           Above average level of initiative and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinarian team environment

·           Strong ability to be flexible, adaptable, to be able to manage change

·           Advanced problem solving and decision making skills in a variety of situations

·           Advanced effective organizational skills involving time management

·           Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

·           Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
