Health Services – Environmental Health (Support Programs Team)
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Education and Information team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing environmental health educational and promotional programs, activities and materials. This may include the Food Handler Certification course, presentations at in-service, other meetings and related events. The Public Health Inspector will also perform technical assessments while staffing the Environmental Health Contact Centre on rotation, providing consultative services and direction to clients on Environmental Health programs and health hazards in the community, including various Acts, Regulations, Guidelines and municipal by-laws. You will also use your professional and technical skills to inspect and investigate health hazards, conduct risk assessments and enforce compliance under various Acts, Regulations, Guidelines, and municipal by-laws for food safety, communicable disease investigation and control, as well as infection control and health hazard investigation. In addition, you will perform technical assessments of applicable building plans, investigate complaints, inspect premises and provide consultative and educational services to clients. You will also perform a defined role in public health emergencies, lay charges, issue orders and exclusion letters, prepare MFIPPA requests, prepare crown briefs and testify in court.
