Contract duration: approximately thirteen (13) months
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Built Environment team in the division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention, you will provide strategic assistance, research capacity and policy support to the Creating Supportive Environments for Healthy Living in Peel priority. More specifically, you will guide the conceptualization, situational assessment, research review and policy analysis necessary to plan and facilitate the building of healthier food environments and systems in Peel. You will develop and maintain relationships with internal and external committees, task forces and coalitions in order to advance population health as it relates to the strategic priority. You will also identify, review, interpret and monitor evidence, data, upcoming regulations and guidelines, evolving issues, and emerging trends on the topics of food, nutrition and the built environment. You will prepare briefings, position statements, reports and recommendations to influence divisional direction and policy development. You will act as a consultant to the division and provide expert advice in setting priorities, research reviews, critical appraisals, policy support and program planning and evaluation. As well, you will utilize evidence informed decision making methodology and the public health core competencies in your work.
