Position: Youth Engagement Coordinator (Competition # 2013-66)
Location: Public Health and Emergency Services Department
Employment Status: Temporary Full-Time (Up to 1 Year) - .8 FTE (4 Days/Wk. Or 28hrs/Wk.)
Reporting To: Manager of Health Promotion
Union Affilliation: CUPE Union
Wage Range: $32.59/Hr. - $36.51/Hr.
 
Position Summary: The Youth Engagement Coordinator, as part of the Ontario Tobacco Strategy, will oversee youth tobacco control activities in their communities, and provide youth the skills they need to succeed.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a health related area (needs to have included health promotion courses) from a recognized institution is required; experience in project coordination and youth supervision. Recent public health experience is an asset; excellent working skills/knowledge of current computer applications; excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with strong facilitation, project management and organizational skills; priority setting, time management and creative problem solving; a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with insurance is a requirement; experience with diverse young people between the ages of 11 to 24 preferably in a community based setting, as asset; demonstrated knowledge, commitment and skill in the application of youth empowerment theory, including youth positive development theory, inclusion and strength-based models of service delivery are preferred.
