The Opportunity

Leave the Pack Behind (LTPB) is a comprehensive, evidence-based tobacco control initiative, which combines programming with applied research.  Dual goals of LTPB are to promote smoke-free living at colleges and universities across Ontario, and investigate patterns of tobacco use among post-secondary students.  Reporting to the Manager and the Assistant Manager of LTPB, the Research Coordinator will assist with the coordination and implementation of this grant-funded project.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the day-to-day activities of the project, particularly those related to campus programming, program evaluation, data analysis, writing reports and articles
  • Developing online and print interventions and resources
  • Carrying out focus testing of resources
  • Preparing and delivering research
  • Delivering programs and developing knowledge translation resources

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in psychology, sociology, community health sciences, or a related field
  • Related experience and knowledge of health programming, tobacco control/nicotine addiction and behaviour change theories, and related research setting experience
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, training, working with web service providers, health care professionals and young adults
  • Demonstrated ability in resource development and design
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven administrative and time management skills, and the demonstrated ability to juggle multiple, competing demands in a fast-paced fluid environment
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Fluent in French, an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
