Leave the Pack Behind (LTPB) is a grant-funded, comprehensive tobacco control initiative operating on college and university campuses across Ontario. LTPB’s programming provides a platform for applied health research. Project management is organized around Communications, Programming and Research. Reporting to the LTPB’s Principal Investigator and/or the Manager, the Assistant Manager (Programming and Communications) supervises all aspects of LTPB programming.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing, communicating plans for and ensuring effective implementation of multi-faceted tobacco control programming for young adults
- Hiring, training and supervising student-staff across Ontario, as well as office administrative staff, research coordinators and research assistants
- Effectively communicating project objectives, plans, procedures and outcomes with campus administrators, student staff/volunteers, and many other interested stakeholders
- Assisting with budget management
- Liaising with representatives of regional, provincial and national tobacco, control projects
- Reporting program outcomes through professional, academic, and lay channels
- Actively supporting program evaluation and research
- Assisting with written reports to funders
- Overseeing work of fee-for-service vendors (e.g. graphic designers, digital marketers)
- Reading current research related to young adults’ use of tobacco and cessation aids, engaging social media avenues and implementing strategies for reducing tobacco use
The ideal candidate will have:
- A graduate degree in health sciences or related discipline combined with supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience with program development, implementation and evaluation
- Sound understanding of tobacco control, nicotine addiction, behaviour change theory, and health promotion theory and practice
- Superior project management skills combined with excellent interpersonal abilities and communication skills (both verbal and writing)
- Proficiency using SPSS, Microsoft Office programs, and web technologies
- Strong organizational skills and the proven ability to multi-task
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence
- A willingness to travel, and occasionally work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
