Deadline February 19, 2016
RNAO is now accepting applications from organizations (such as health-care facilities and academic institutions) to act as a host site for either a Best Practice Champions workshop or Addressing Substance Use Champions workshops between May 2016 and January 2017.
Your organization can apply to host any of the following:
Best Practice Champions Workshop

The Best Practice Champions workshop is a free one day professional development opportunity designed to introduce nurses and other health professionals to evidence-based practice such as RNAO’s Best Practice Guidelines and how those guidelines can be implemented into a work setting. Using the second edition of RNAO's toolkit Implementation of Best Practice Guidelines, this workshop highlights approaches to guideline selection, working with stakeholders, implementation strategies and evaluation processes.
Addressing Substance Use Champions Workshop
Get the Addressing Substance Use Champions RFP (https://myrnao.ca/sites/myrnao/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=33286&qi...) and application (https://myrnao.ca/sites/myrnao/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=33325&qi...)
Addressing Substance Use Champions Workshop (level one) provides nurses with an overview of introductory concepts related to providing safe, ethical and competent care to clients (in all clinical settings) who use substances. Participants will engage in concepts related to understanding stigma, harm reduction, licit and illicit substances, best practices related to screening, brief interventions and referral to treatment. This workshop is intended to build capacity amongst nurses who traditionally do not work with this client population and work across the continuum of care.
The Addressing Substance Use Champions Workshop (level two) is geared towards nurses who have already participated in previous RNAO Champions workshops focused on mental health and addictions. In this workshop, participants will gain a deeper understanding of advanced concepts related to substance use disorder such as harm reduction and concurrent disorders. In addition, the workshop will look at sustaining implementation of best practices through the use of the second edition of RNAO's toolkit Implementation of Best Practice Guidelines.
Questions about the workshops or application process can be directed to Kyle Dieleman ([email protected]) and Andrea Stubbs ([email protected]). The deadline for submission is Friday, February 19, 2016.
