New Resource--Evidence Brief: Oral health and dental caries prevention in school children, Public Health Ontario

According to the Canadian Health Measures Survey conducted from 2007-2009, over half of Canadian children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years old are affected by dental caries. Dental caries are preventable and can theoretically be controlled by altering bacterial flora in the mouth, modifying diet, increasing acid resistance of teeth, or reversing demineralization.

Evidence Brief: Oral health and dental caries prevention in school children investigates what dental/oral hygiene program delivery models are most effective at preventing dental caries in school-aged children. This includes descriptions of prevention activities, intervention settings and service providers.
