The Sudbury & District Health Unit (SDHU) is a progressive public health agency committed to improving health and reducing social inequities in health through evidence-informed practice. The SDHU has a staff of over 250 who deliver provincially legislated public health programs and services through the head office in the city of Greater Sudbury and five offices throughout the city and the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. The SDHU is governed by an autonomous Board of Health and has strong community and inter-agency partnerships.
Director, Clinical and Family Services
Sudbury, Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to the Medical Officer of Health/Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Clinical and Family Services is a member of senior management, contributing excellence in organizational leadership and cross-agency planning and decision-making. As Director, your superior inclusive leadership and strategic thinking skills, combined with your substantive knowledge ensure that the Clinical and Family Services division effectively meets the public health needs of our communities. You have key responsibilities under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, the Ontario Public Health Standards, and the Ontario Public Health Organizational Standards.
Your main portfolios include Control of Infectious Diseases, Vaccine Preventable Diseases, Sexual Health, Healthy Babies Healthy Children, Family Health and Dental Health. Your position requires significant initiative and an effective balance of big picture thinking with day-to-day operational management of your portfolios. Your superior communication skills are essential in creating and maintaining excellent relationships both internal and external to the Health Unit. As the successful applicant, you are a registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and have a Masters level degree in public health or a relevant field. You also have six or more years of experience in a public health unit or relevant community health agency combined with progressive supervisory and administrative responsibility.
