Position: Public Health Nurse, #2016-21

Terms: Full-time Permanent, 35 hours per week
                                                          
Location: Ear Falls, ON

Position Summary:

The Public Health Nurse in Ear Falls works with multidisciplinary programs that support health across the lifespan in a naturally beautiful location.  Programs include Healthy Babies Healthy Children, Child and Reproductive Health, Vaccine Preventable Diseases, Sexual Health, Harm Reduction, Infectious Diseases and Chronic Disease Prevention.  The successful candidate will work within a team to provide services and collaborate with community members and community partners for planning, implementing, and evaluating Public Health programs within Ear Falls and surrounding communities.  This position will appeal to the Public Health Nurse who enjoys independent work that truly makes a difference to the whole community.

The ideal applicant will have a solid understanding of the social determinants of health and how they affect the health of individuals and populations.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing, or eligible to register within the Province
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, BScN
  • Current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certification
  • 2 - 4 years’ experience working in the maternal and child health field
  • Demonstrated health promotion knowledge, experience related to prenatal and child health; experience will clients of all ages
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience with principles of adult and child education and community mobilization is an asset

Salary:

$32.10 to $44.29 per hour, in accordance with the Ontario Nurses’ Association Contract (ONA).

Other:

Access to transportation.  Mileage allowance provided. Successful candidate requires a clear Vulnerable Sector Check and proof of required immunizations prior to start of work.
