Setting the Context for Indigenous Cultural Safety: Facing Racism in Health, Indigenous Cultural Safety Learning Series

We are pleased to announce the details for the inaugural webinar of the Indigenous Cultural Safety Learning Series.

This national webinar series provides an opportunity to share knowledge; experiences and perspectives in support of collective efforts to strengthen Indigenous cultural safety in health and social services.

Presenters:

  • Janet Smylie: Janet will discuss how attitudinal and systemic racism are important and
  • often unrecognized determinants of health and health care access. She will describe new research initiatives on cultural safety in health care.
  • Cheryl Ward: Her presentation will set the context for Indigenous Cultural Safety training by
  • sharing insights on how racism and stereotyping surface in health care, as well as exploring pedagogical approaches to responding to racism.
