10:00 a.m.- 4;00 p.m.
Sustainability Network/CSI, 192 Spadina Avenue, Room D,
How do we best apply our valuable volunteer time and efforts to bring about change? This is the focus of this session for volunteer-run organizations who work to bring about change by building deep relationships with people who share their goals.
Advancing our efforts to bring about change has now become about how we best support citizen mobilization and leadership. ‘Engagement Organizing’ is an approach that strives to marry organizing, technology, and a culture of developing leadership in others.
Session leaders for both workshops:
- Graham Saul has worked on global justice and environmental issues for 20 years and is Executive Director of Ecology Ottawa, an organization that has embraced this model.
- Lindsay Telfer is Director of the Canadian Freshwater Alliance and an avid believer in the power of communities to come together and organize. She draws on a decade of experience working with Sierra Club Canada on grassroots organizing.
