Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers, Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration

The Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers acknowledges outstanding contributions made by youth volunteers across the province.

Who is eligible?

Nominees for this medal must be between the ages of 15 and 24 and live in Ontario.

These young people must have donated a large amount of time to a charity, a not-for-profit organization or a person and be a role model and inspire other young people to volunteer.

When is the deadline?

The deadline is January 15 of each year. If January 15 falls on a weekend or holiday, nominations will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. the following business day.

All nominations received after the deadline will be considered for the following year.

Nominations may be submitted at any time.

How are recipients selected?

An independent advisory council considers all nominations and selects the recipients.

How are the medals presented?

The medals are presented at a special ceremony held at Queen's Park and hosted by the Lieutenant Governor.

Each recipient receives a medal, a framed certificate and a lapel pin.
