The report from the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) on Canadian Youth Perceptions on Cannabis is now available on our website: http://www.ccsa.ca/Resource%20Library/CCSA-Canadian-Youth-Perceptions-on....
CCSA undertook this research project to better understand the conversations about cannabis that are taking place every day in schools, at home and in community centres. As we move towards the introduction of draft legislation on cannabis, these conversations are becoming increasingly relevant.
We need to understand where youth are getting their information and what they are thinking, and help them make informed decisions. We can also use this knowledge to inform effective prevention strategies.
The key findings in the report are categorized according to what youth believe to be true, why youth use cannabis, what are their misconceptions, what else influences youth and what they think about prevention.
