We are pleased to provide updates and information about the following Canadian Cancer Society research programs.
Please visit the Canadian Cancer Society research website for program and application information at http://www.cancer.ca/research.
The Impact Grant program is intended to contribute to the scientific idea 'pipeline' by supporting significant progression in cancer research programs that are anywhere in the continuum from basic high impact discovery to translational work of direct relevance to the clinic and beyond. Budgets awarded may be up to $250,000 per year and a maximum of $1,250,000 per grant. The grant term is up to 5 years.
Please note the following:
- In addition to biomedical research, applications from prevention, health services, social and population health researchers are encouraged.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to form multidisciplinary teams including early career investigators, to provide mentorship and development opportunities for Canada's future cancer researchers.
- Given the merger of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) with CCS in February 2017, a special call for breast cancer research is being included in the 2018 Impact Grant funding opportunity.
It is anticipated that approximately 7 grants will be awarded in this competition, with approximately 3 of these being breast cancer grants.

Chordoma Research Grant Competition
Coming soon, this grant program has been generously established by funds raised with the support of the Chordoma Foundation (US) for Canadian chordoma research.
It is anticipated that up to 2 grants will be awarded in this competition. Grant budgets may be up to $100,000 per year and a maximum of $150,000 per grant. Grants will be non-renewable.
To receive notification when the competition is open for applications, please contact email@example.com.
Junior Investigator Grant Panel Travel Award
The Canadian Cancer Society is pleased to offer a special initiative to allow junior investigators in cancer research to gain knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Cancer Society peer-review process.
Selected investigators from across Canada will be provided funds to reimburse travel costs to Toronto to observe a grant panel meeting. This unique opportunity will provide junior faculty members with an "inside look" at how research grants are reviewed in order to help structure their own grant proposals in future.
Applications for these limited funds will be accepted via EGrAMS and require Department or Institution Head sign-off prior to submission.
