March 18-24, 2018 is National Poison Prevention Week!
This year, Parachute is focused on drawing attention to Carbon Monoxide(CO) poisoning and CO Safety within home across Canada. CO is colourless, odourless, tasteless and can cause immediate harm if un-noticed. Known as the “Silent Killer, Carbon Monoxide (CO) is one of the leading causes of accidental poisonings in Ontario. However, it’s not all bad news. Knowing the symptoms CO poisoning, being able to identify potential sources of CO-emission, and knowing how to protect oneself from CO-related harms can mean more lives saved.
Parachute is pleased to be partnering with Health Canada, the Canadian Association of Poison Control Centres (CAPCC) and the five regional Poison Control Centres to share important poison prevention messaging. By tapping into all of our networks, we increase our reach to more Canadians.
In addition, Parachute has collaborated with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) to present a number of educational resources geared towards parents, caregivers, injury prevention practitioners and public health professionals. Here’s how to spread the word on CO Safety!
