Health, Wellness and Homelessness Workshop

Free Workshop for those who work or volunteer with the homeless or underhoused



9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Drive (next to the Scarborough Town Centre, exit at the Scarborough Centre RT Subway Station)



The speakers in this workshop include Laura Cowan, Street Health, who will provide an overview of the major health challenges facing the underhoused and homeless communities of Toronto; Dianne Edwards, Health Promoter with West Hill Community Services, who will provide an introduction to the health care delivery infrastructure in place in Scarborough and communities like it to meet the health care needs of the homeless and underhoused; Ligaya Byrch, Fife House , Case Coordinator of the Gladstone Program, who will share her experience and insights into the delivery of chronic and palliative care of the HIV-positive women housed, cared for and supported by Fife House; and Michelle Baptie Sanchez from Birchmount Residence, who will introduce participants to Remotivation Therapy and provide practical examples of its application and use with senior men, many of whom are homeless and underhoused.
