New Release–Obesity in Canada, CIHI and PHAC

“Obesity is a complex phenomenon, with a wide range of genetic, lifestyle, social, cultural and environmental factors contributing to variations in its prevalence,” according to Obesity in Canada, a new joint report from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).

The joint report examines the prevalence of obesity among adults, children, youth and Aboriginal Peoples; presents new analyses of the determinants of obesity using innovative measures; and reports on the impact of obesity in Canada. In addition, Canadian and international lessons learned in obesity prevention and reduction are highlighted.
