Helping Canadian Kids: A National Conference on Positive Youth Development

Many recent national conferences have focused on what's wrong with our kids: bullying, violence, "'at risk,: and the list goes on and on. We're taking this opportunity to focus on what's working and share stories with others who know that focusing on strengths can be far more productive than trying to "fix" what's wrong. Our conference goals include

* Connecting Canadians of all ages involved in strengths-based youth development

* Learning how communities can prevent crime through social development, awareness, and engagement

* Educating and exciting participants about what is available to support your Positive Youth Development efforts in our communities, schools, faith communities, and homes

Confirmed keynote presenters include Linda Millar, Vice President of Concerned Children's Advertisers, and Peter Benson, Ph.D., President of Search Institute. A top notch line-up of presenters is planned, focusing on positive prevention education, youth engagement, developmental assets, peace education, crime prevention, literacy and story telling, service learning, community mobilization, character education, media literacy, and evaluation techniques.

Conference fee is $395 with special rates available for groups of five. Space is limited so please register early! To receive a conference brochure please contact us at [email protected] or 1-800-265-2680 x102 or visit http://www.thrivecanada.ca.
