Consumer Health Information Services: How are they delivered across Canada

In 1999/2000 a two-phased survey was conducted to better understand the staffing models used in 24 consumer health information services in Canada to provide people with access to consumer health information. The findings are reported in this journal. The Canadian CHIS use the health promotion strategy of developing personal skills in their approach to providing access to health information and deliver their service using an empowerment approach.
