From the website: "In 1991, the B.C. Seniors' Advisory Council identified informal caregiving as a significant issue in the lives of B.C. seniors. It addressed the issue in its Annual Reports for 1992 and 1993 and its response to, Closer to Home: The Report of the B.C. Royal Commission on Health Care and Costs. In November 1993, Council established a Task Force on this issue. This position paper reflects the work of that Task Force and deliberations of the Seniors' Advisory Council on the issue of support for informal caregivers. Council hopes that this paper and the position it outlines will contribute to creative new partnerships between government and informal caregivers which will benefit seniors and their families.
