The Health Communication Unit, Office Administrator

The Health Communication Unit is a provincial health promotion resource centre funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Under the supervision of the manager, the office administrator

- coordinates consultation services, regional and provincial workshops

including planning these client services, promotion, monitoring and

reporting (in cooperation with manager and other staff)

- provides administrative support including preparation and monitoring

of budgets, reports, and workplans (in cooperation with manager and

business officer)

- provides general office support for internal and external consultants

including design and distribution of internal and external print and

electronic documents such as reports, proposals, posters, flyers,

minutes, correspondence, faxes and memos (in cooperation with other

staff as appropriate), purchasing, technical support, maintenance of an


- provides secretarial support to the manager and other staff as time


Minimum Qualifications

- Education: Honors post-secondary preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Skills: At least three years related experience; good general

knowledge of health promotion and the University; excellent written and

oral communication skills; expert computer skills (including Word Perfect, Word, PageMaker, Powerpoint, Access, Netscape Communicator,


- Other: Familiarity with the challenges of a small, project-oriented

office; organizational ability; demonstrated flexibility and initiative; ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgment; creativity.

Hiring Rate: $32,892 with annual step progression to maximum of $42,028
