Co-ordinator, Woman Abuse Screening Project


Women's Health Program, Rouge Valley Health Centre - Centenary Site

Part Time Contract Position

Hours: 18.75 per week - flexible

Duration: 12 months

Salary: $25.00 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits



The project is one of the results of the Health Centre's Task Force on Woman Abuse which started in December 1999. The goal is to train Health Care Providers to screen women for possible abuse and to refer them to appropriate resources. The co-ordinator will work closely with the Chair and members of the Task Force as well as the graduate Social Work student assisting with the project:



RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Consultation with Front Line Staff re: Identification and Assessment of Abused Women

* Development of Policies and Protocols related to Woman Abuse based on Best Practice Guidelines

* Training Staff to:

1) Screen Women for Possible Abuse

2) To complete an accurate assessment & Documentation Tool

3) To refer to Resources in the Health Care Centre or in the Community

4) Evaluate the effectiveness of the Project



KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

* Demonstrated work experience in a related field

* Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity to woman abuse issues

* Excellent organizational and communication skills

* Works well independently

* Demonstrated community development skills

* Computer literate

* Ability to work with different levels of professionals
