The Community Health Nursing Specialist will promote the quality of public health programs and nursing practices by collaborating with staff to evaluate programs and identify new initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Family Health Services, the incumbent will carry out special projects and serve on internal/external committees to promote the strategic directions of the Health Unit. The successful candidate will promote evidence-based practices and dissemination of research and function as a resource in the evidence-based practice of public health nursing.
Requires several years' related experience and a current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses. A Master's degree in Nursing or a Health Sciences degree is preferred. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in the practice of public health nursing. Experience in population-based health promotion strategies, an understanding of broader health systems issues, and a minimum of three years public health/community nursing experience is also required. Candidates must have the ability to function effectively within an interdisciplinary setting, and the ability to lead people to accomplish specified goals and objectives. Candidates must also have strong communication skills and must be computer literate. The ability to communicate in French or other languages would be considered an asset.
