Director, Clinical Services, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is a public health agency providing services to over 475,000 residents in Simcoe County and Muskoka District. Located one hour north of Toronto, in Central Ontario, the region offers excellent accommodation and recreation options, within proximity of a major urban centre. The Health Unit is currently inviting applications for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity as a Director, Clinical Services.

Reporting directly to the Medical Officer of Health/Chief Executive Officer, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team. You are responsible for the strategic leadership, management and overall performance of the Oral Health, Control of Infectious Disease, Infection Control, Tuberculosis Control, STD Including HIV/AIDS,

Sexual Health and Vaccine Preventable Disease programs in accordance with the Health Unit's mission and strategic plan. Programs must be implemented congruent with professional standards, labour relations requirements, relevant legislation including the Health Protection and Promotion Act, prescribed Regulations and the Mandatory Health

Programs and Services Guidelines. You participate in the formulation and implementation of policy for the Health Unit and represent the Health Unit and Service with peers and community groups, agencies, institutions, and professional bodies.

You provide leadership to an interdisciplinary staff complement of 90 individuals, including public health nurses, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, public health inspectors, dental hygienists, dental health educators and support staff. You must possess a thorough knowledge of theories and principles of public health

management, including disease prevention, health protection, epidemiology, community health planning, health promotion, and program evaluation normally acquired in the attainment of a masters level degree in a field related to public health. A career in public

health, with a minimum of five years of progressive experience at a managerial level is preferred.
