The Sudbury & District Health Unit (SDHU) is a progressive,
accredited public health agency committed to the concepts of workplace
wellness. With a head office in Sudbury and four branch offices
throughout the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin, the SDHU delivers
legislated public health programs and services under the leadership of
the Medical Officer of Health and governance of the Board of Health.
The SDHU is designated as one of five provincial teaching health units
and is affiliated with Laurentian University.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to
our organizational mission: working with our communities to promote and
protect health and to prevent disease.
Reporting to the Manager, Professional Practice and Development of the
Resources, Research, Evaluation and Development Division, you will
contribute to excellence in nursing and public health practice by
promoting the development and integration of practice, education and
research. The CNS roles include those of researcher, educator,
evaluator and consultant in public health nursing. You will be
responsible for the management of education, research, evaluation and
development projects. Your enthusiasm for innovation and for
strengthening the evidence base for public health nursing practice
combined with your empowering leadership style make you an ideal
candidate. You will provide leadership in public health provincially
through your contribution to the Public Health Research, Education and
Development (PHRED) Program. As a member of the supervisory team, you
will promote cooperative planning and decision-making with other teams
and partners and draw upon your experience in working with
interdisciplinary teams. You have an interest in enhanced management

Ontario. You have strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving
skills as well as systems thinking ability. You will have strong
interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. You have
demonstrated computer skills, including experience with qualitative and
quantitative data analysis and software. You are familiar with
pertinent legislation, regulations and professional practice
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has a strong
advanced preparation and practice background in public health nursing,
population health and public health sciences. Applicants will possess a
recognized Masters Degree in a nursing specialty or related field and
be eligible for joint appointment with affiliated universities.
Applicants will have a minimum of three years experience in public
health nursing plus two years in applied research, teaching, program
planning and evaluation. Fluency in both official languages is
required. Academic and management experience is an asset. Current
certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a satisfactory
criminal reference check are also required for this position.
