Crossing Borders and Disciplines: Lessons from the Globalization, Gender & Health

A special workshop presentation the Centre for Research in Women's
Health (CRWH) director Dr. Heather Maclean and research associate
Suzanne Sicchia

The CRWH is a partnership between Sunnybrook and Women's College Health
Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto.  As an
Extra-Departmental Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, CRWH works to
promote and foster women's health research across the University of
Toronto and its affiliated institutions.

This presentation will

  • provide an overview of the Globalization, Gender & Health Initiative
  • highlight key findings from regional consultations in Africa,
    Latin America, Asia and North America regarding the differential impact
    of globalization on women and men in these respective regions
  • describe the process of consensus-building to identify priority
    women's health issues globally and summarize project outcomes to date

The Globalization, Gender and Health Research-Policy Initiative was
funded by the Institute of Gender and Health, Canadian Institutes of
Health Research. Project partners included the Centre for Research in
Women's Health, University of Toronto, Fogarty International Centre,
and the Office for Research on Women's Health, of the National
Institutes of Health.
