Physician Outreach Specialist, Peel Health

The Region of Peel, comprised of Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon, is

Reporting to the Associate Medical Officer of Health, the Physician
Outreach Specialist will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining
an effective partnership between the Health Department and medical care
providers in Peel.  This dynamic individual will engage Peel's
1500 physicians in order to improve health protection, disease
prevention and health promotion, and to meet the specific health
professional outreach and education standards prescribed under the
Mandatory Programs and Services Guidelines.  The incumbent will
coordinate epidemiologic, policy and programmatic support for our
community based health care providers, while providing Peel Health with
the physician communication strategies for timely and effective
communicable disease control, health promotion and health protection.

If you possess

  • a graduate level training in public health, health promotion, or public relations undergraduate training in health sciences
  • five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • working knowledge of adult education
  • experience in client consultation, needs assessment, learning design, facilitation and evaluation
  • excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and
    experience in developing communication strategies for a variety of
    target groups
  • knowledge of Public Health's programs, services and legislation
  • demonstration of clear, analytical, strategic thinking, good judgement and the ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • leadership skills with an ability to develop and articulate compelling rationale for their sound recommendations
  • detailed organizational talent and the ability to work as part of
    a team  with a diverse group of staff and external partners
  • excellent project management, research and presentation abilities
  • good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Ms Access) and experience working with databases
