Supervisor, School Programs, Public Health, Region of Peel

The Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Division requires a dynamic,
creative and strategic thinking leader to promote and lead
comprehensive school health programs.  Reporting to a Manager,
CDIP, you will supervise, coach and mentor a team of high functioning
health professionals.  You will oversee program operations,
ensuring efficient, effective utilization of resources.  You will
be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating program
initiatives within the School Health program.  You will market and
promote comprehensive school health to school boards and the
community.  You will develop and implement business plans and
annual work plans for the program.  You will provide input in
establishing performance targets and overall strategic and operational
objectives to meet Mandatory Program Guidelines, Service Strategy
Business Plan, and BEST objectives.  You will build relationships
with School Boards, external agencies and community groups, participate
on various provincial, departmental and interagency committees to
coordinate the provision of services.

If you possess

  • a Bachelors degree from a health related discipline or in a
    specialized health science area applicable to public health from a
    recognized university combined with a minimum of five years supervisory
    experience in public health, or a related field
  • knowledge of public health theories, principles, policies, legislation and regulations
  • demonstrated knowledge and skills in comprehensive health promotion program planning, implementation and evaluation
  • strong facilitation, presentation, research and analytical skills
  • knowledge and experience in marketing is an asset ? ability to
    lead, manage and motivate a multidisciplinary team of health
  • coaching and mentoring skills to build a high functioning team
  • strong project management skills  
  • customer/client focused leadership
  • ability to build and maintain partnerships, negotiate and collaborate
  • political awareness, tact and diplomacy
  • excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • demonstrated organizational and administrative skills including
