Summer Students, South Riverdale Community Health Centre

The South Riverdale Community Health Centre is a non-profit, multi-
service center that provides primary health care, social and community
outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion to residents of
Riverdale and South East Toronto.
Pending on approval of funding from the Human Resources Development of
Canada, the South Riverdale Community Health Centre in the east end of
Toronto (located at Carlaw and Queen) is looking for summer students
for the following positions.  Please submit your application only
if you qualify as a summer student.  
 
Responsibilities of the health promotion assistant

  • Assist in the coordination of the day-to-day activities of the Health Promotion Team including the Health Information Centre
  • Help with the delivery and promotion of summer projects and festivals
  • Assist with community outreach and publicity campaigns
  • Assist community groups in organizing and facilitating health and community projects
  • Provide administrative support to staff and projects
  • Develop promotional materials including newsletters and flyers

Qualifications

  • Be between 15-30 years of age
  • Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous
    academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in
    the next academic year
  • Be students in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational, or technical program
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons on whom
    refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee
    Protection Act
  • Be legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations
  • Not hold another full-time (30 or more hours) summer job during their placement
  • Interest in community health and working with marginalized groups
  • Ability to work in a team environment with diverse communities
  • Good typing, computer, oral and written communication skills

Wage:  Minimum Wage, $7.75/ hour
