Manager, Nutrition Resource Centre, Ontario Public Health Association

The mission of the OPHA is to provide leadership on issues affecting
the public's health and to strengthen the impact of people who are
active in public and community health throughout Ontario.

The Nutrition Resource Centre (NRC) is committed to increasing the
capacity of Ontario's nutrition practitioners to implement nutrition
programs and strategies in a health promotion context through
coordinated provincial support for nutrition promotion programming,
resource development and dissemination, and program-related technical
support services.

The Manager provides leadership in provincial program planning and
evaluation; develops and manages the implementation of strategic and
annual workplans for the NRC; hires and supervises staff, contracts
project work, manages budget; maintains key linkages with other
organizations promoting nutrition activities in Ontario; consults and
provides advice for ongoing collaborative projects; oversees the
development and distribution of NRC resources, including the website
and listserv; manages service/program evaluation and research; liaises
with the Ministry of Health Promotion; participates in the Ontario
Health Promotion Resource System planning; and participated on the OPHA
management team.

The position's qualifications include

  • a degree in nutrition or health science from a recognized university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • eligible for licensing by the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • post-graduate education in health promotion or a related discipline;
  • excellent program/project/work management and practical problem-solving skills;
  • polished leadership, human resource management and teamwork
  • working knowledge of foods/nutrition and consumer behaviour theories and practices;
  • successful experience applying state-of-the-art, needs-based health promotion techniques and tools;
  • successful related work experience with Ontario's community
    and/or public health sector, including facilitating/supporting
    community-based knowledge transference, education and training programs;
  • strong knowledge and experience in research, program planning, implementation and evaluation;
  • goal and results oriented with the ability to work independently, using initiative to ensure progress;
  • excellent all-round communication skills, including consultation skills;
  • talent for networking and relationship management with a broad spectrum of contacts
  • proficiency with PC-based common office software
  • knowledge of system co-ordination of computer-based services, e.g. websites, list serves, an asset
  • French-English bilingualism an asset
  • legal entitlement to work immediately in Canada
