New Report--The Family, Community, and Health in the Context of Economic Change

The Applied Research and Analysis Directorate is pleased to announce
the release of the research project entitled "The Family, Community,
and Health in the Context of Economic Change."  This project was
led by Dr. Roderic Beaujot of the University of Western Ontario.

The objective of this research project was to derive a better
understanding of the influence of families and communities on the
health of populations and of individuals in Canada.  Dr. Beaujot
and his team conducted several studies, presented in twelve separate
research papers, and composed a high level paper drawing the findings
together.  The studies examined the relation between: family
structure and health of adults and children; income and health;
community characteristics and health; and, socio-economic status,
timing of births, and values of children.
