Community Health Educator, Volunteer Positions, South Riverdale Community Health Centre

South Riverdale Community Health Centre is currently looking for
Volunteer Community Health Ambassadors who would be interested in
delivering basic health education workshops to community residents on
health-related issues, primarily focusing on heart health.  
Topics include healthy eating, stress management, physical
activity.  The goal of this project is to reach out to underserved
populations in the South Riverdale area and improve their capacity to
achieve and maintain good health.  Community Health Ambassadors
will receive training in the basic principles of health promotion,
adult education, presentation skills, diversity, resource development
and group facilitation.  Once trained, the Ambassadors will
present health education workshops within the South Riverdale
community.  During this time, Ambassadors will receive supervision
and ongoing professional development.  Participants will be
involved in all aspects of the project including program planning and
evaluation.  This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to
become involved in the community while developing and enhancing new
skills. 

Travel expenses will be covered and a small honorarium will be provided
to volunteers who commit to 1 year of service.  Deadline for
application is September 15, 2006.  Training to start September
25, 2006.
