Project Director, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canadian Public Health Association Global Health Programs

Canadian Public Health Association Global Health Programs seeks a Project Director for Bosnia & Herzegovina

The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) signed in September 2005
a Contribution Agreement with the Canadian International Development
Agency (CIDA) for a 4-year project to improve the capacity of
professional voluntary-based independent associations to advocate for
the formulation of effective and comprehensive public health policy and
suitably resourced essential public health services.  The project
will take place in Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH) and the Republic of
Serbia.  This employment opportunity covers the balance of the
project's duration (3 years).  The Project Director is based in
Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina), but works in both BiH and Serbia.
The successful candidate should be available to assume this position at
the latest by March 1, 2007.

Candidates must possess a graduate degree, preferably in public health
or another health-related subject, and must have at least five years'
experience in designing, managing and implementing international
development projects.  As the focus of the project will be the
establishment and nurturing of public health associations in the
project's locations, candidates must possess expertise in
not-for-profit organization capacity building, with practical knowledge
about/experience with NGO governance and operational issues. 
Experience in the utilization of research results for policy and
program development and knowledge of public health issues in Canada and
in the South East Europe region are highly desirable. English is the
working language with project partners.  Fluency in French and
knowledge of local languages (Serbian/Bosnian) are assets.

The annual salary range for the Project Director is $60,000 to $70,000,
dependent upon qualifications and experience, plus applicable Treasury
Board-approved allowances for long-term assignment overseas.
