Acting Director--National Initiatives and Alliances, Canadian Parks and Recreation Association

one year contract

CPRA is seeking a highly resourceful, self-motivated and dynamic
individual as Acting Director of National Initiatives and Alliances for
a one-year term.  Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this
is a senior management position that provides leadership, strategic
input, direction and coordination for the organization. The Director
supervises three full-time staff as well as part-time staff and
students.

  • Canadian Research Agenda
  • Everybody gets to play
  • Making All Recreation Safe
  • National Awards and Recognition Program
  • Communications (Website, E-News, InfoLine)
  • National Play Days

General Responsibilities

Management of national programs and services; relationship building
with other NGO's, government officials and foundations; research and
development (trends and opportunities); communications and knowledge
mobilization; and leading a staff team, volunteer committees and task
groups

Education/Experience Requirements

Relevant College or University degree in Recreation, Sport or Social
Science with a minimum of five years in program development and
evaluation, project management, building partnerships and
communications. An in-depth knowledge of the Canadian recreation
delivery system is essential. Bilingual candidates will receive first
consideration.

The base salary for this position is $53,000. Deadline for applications is 12:00 Noon EST, November 30, 2006.
