1:10-2:10 p.m.
University of Toronto, University College Room 256

Spotlight on Urban Health Seminar Series

Patricia Erickson, PhD, Senior Scientist, Centre for Addiction &
Mental Health, Professor, Dept. Sociology & Criminology at the
University of Toronto, and Katherine King, Project Coordinator, Youth
in Transition Study, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health

Using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods, a
multi-disciplinary team investigated the fluctuations in housing
security over a one year period in a group of high-risk young women
aged 16-20 years. A sample of 75 street-involved girls were compared
with 30 girls still maintaining Children's Aid Society status to help
determine what factors influenced successful transitions away from the
street life.
