Prevention of Domestic Violence against Immigrant and Refugee Women through Early Intervention

OCASI is now providing online, self-directed violence prevention training for settlement service providers and anyone who frequently provides services to immigrants, refugees and undocumented women. It is a basic course, aimed at filling a gap in knowledge.

This training is intended for settlement service providers and anyone who frequently provides services to immigrants, refugees and undocumented women. It is for people who are not familiar with domestic violence issues and whose role as a service provider is to make an appropriate referral when they encounter a woman who is dealing with domestic violence.

While this training is intended for people who work at settlement agencies, ethno-specific associations and other immigrant service organizations, it is expected to be useful for other front line workers in human service organizations in Ontario. The training and the legal section in particular, applies to the situation in Ontario and may not be relevant in other jurisdictions.
