Kempenfelt Conference Centre, Barrie ON
November 18-20, 2008
The Ontario Provincial Consortium on Youth in Recreation (PCYR) is pleased to invite you, or someone of whom you may know (feel free to forward this invitation) to submit a presentation for the 2008 MBA VIII Symposium. People who work or volunteer in, who supervise, or who are interested in adolescent youth programs attend this annual event. Delegates come from municipal recreation and community services departments, not for profit groups, community sports groups, public health, educational institutions, and social service organizations. They come to
- learn about trends and issues relevant to working with youth (ages 13 +)
- share information on best practices, what works and helps create success
- develop networks to strengthen the approach to working with youth in Ontario
Presentations are generally 25 minutes in length, presented to the full group of delegates (approximately 75 in total), and work to give the audience both a sense of information (tell me about it) and application (show me what you mean either in an exercise, a video or some other interactive vehicle).
We look for a cross section of presentations, such as Youth Advisory Councils Programming for Diverse Groups, Youth Engagement Programs Female-only Programming, Building Support for Youth Programs Youth Programs as a Community Development Tool, Youth Leadership/Mentoring Program Youth Outreach Programs, Leading Edge Youth Programs Youth Culture (R&B, Hip Hop, Graffiti, etc.), Innovative Youth Program Models Rural Outreach Strategies, Funding for Youth Programs Marketing to Youth, or any best practices, approaches, training and ideas worth sharing
